Birth Off the Beaten Path
For the moms who value authenticity, empowerment, and continuity from pregnancy to postpartum
A personalized program covering childbirth education, lactation counseling, and postpartum wellness through an occupational therapy informed lens
Birth Off the Beaten Path is a trusting, connected space for moms grounded in physiologic birth, functional recovery, and real-world logistics, especially for rural families. It encourages you to lean in to your maternal instincts and provide you with a holistic approach to birth and postpartum.
You’ll receive continuity-of-care support from late pregnancy through the first six weeks postpartum — so you’re not left piecing things together when it matters most.
This program is for you if:
You want an intuitive and supportive path as a low risk pregnant woman
A first time mom or a mom who wants something different the second (or more) time around
You value giving true informed consent
You want an honest appreciation for your birth and postpartum preferences
You live in a rural area where services or resources are limited
You desire personalized support with clear next steps
You're looking at this program because you find yourself thinking different than the mainstream. You want to navigate the birth world with trust and conviction.
The birth world is polarizing, and the noise is loud. In Birth Off the Beaten Path, you'll get education and personalized recommendations to feel confident and empowered when working with your healthcare providers.
Nothing about this program is standard. You’ll tackle labor and birth, plan for a personalized prenatal and postpartum lactation support, and receive well rounded developmental education through the lens of an occupational therapist.
Whether you're a first time mom wanting an unmedicated birth outside the system, or a mom who wants to do something differently the second or third time around in the hospital, this program will provide you with the calm confidence to make decisions based off your own values, and to advocate in an over-medicalized maternity care system. You’ll be off the beaten path both physically - if you live in a rural area - and metaphorically - advocating for a birth plan that goes against our cultural practices.
THE TRANSFORMATION YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
You will tackle fear based rhetoric in the birth world
You’ll learn your labor and birth options so you know how to give true informed consent
You’ll receive prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding education in the event your journey doesn’t go “as planned”
You’ll understand biological norms with your infant
You’ll understand the benefits of physiologic birth: improved breastfeeding success, lower risk of complications, faster recovery, improved birth satisfaction, etc
You’ll reduce risk, gain confidence, and a make a functional recovery plan
As a first time mom, I knew something was "off" immediately postpartum. Breastfeeding was excruciating, my baby woke up hourly, and she was always screaming. I was repeatedly told by providers and peers alike "every baby is different."
Instead of spending countless hours Googling your questions or talking with ChatGPT, Birth Off the Beaten Path will discuss your prenatal, labor, and postpartum concerns, check in on feeding after birth, and provide you with resources and contacts of professionals who can help if needed.
Together we'll tackle the tough topics that a standard childbirth education won't: you’ll have full access to a course collaboration with Lizzie and the Unmedicated Girlies.
Diving into these topics ahead of time will ensure you have more time to rest and bond with your baby, instead of middle of night internet searches when you should be optimizing sleep.

Calm, clear, confident choices: the power to step into your birth as a woman with bodily autonomy

Postpartum, the calls will focus on breastfeeding progression, as the first 72 hours and first two weeks are critical for long term breastfeeding success. You’ll also enact a plan to succeed physically, emotionally, and mentally the initial weeks after birth by setting up support systems and boundaries that your family values.
In addition to the calls, the self-paced childbirth education curriculum, personalized guides, breastfeeding video feedback, ongoing messaging support, and resource list will ensure your initial period of matrescence begins as smooth as possible.
As a mom who has been in these shoes before, it's invaluable to have one person who can step alongside you during these transformative, vulnerable weeks where you question everything. I’ve been there before, and I see you.
Mom of 2
Childbirth education fanatic
Certified Lactation Counselor
Occupational therapist
I've had two uncomplicated physiologic births: one birth center birth, and one home birth. However, with both of my babies, I've encountered breastfeeding problems, airway and sleep troubles, and infant discomfort. The initial weeks were extra tough due to these unforeseen circumstances. Looking back, I wish I had one person to support and guide me instead of receiving insanely fragmented care from IBCLCs to ENT to infant feeding therapists and more, though they were all critical to our mother-baby dyad successes. After over a full year in the deepest trenches with my daughter, supporting other moms has become my biggest passion at this stage in life. I’ve taken extensive courses for infant feeding (specifically tongue tie as a whole body issue), lactation, and sleep. I continue to live and breathe the birth world through walking alongside friends in the initial years postpartum, constantly listening to birth podcasts, and learning daily through my own lived experiences with young children.
I live in rural Alaska off of the road system (which is a big reason I started this program!) with my daughter aged 3 years, and my son aged 7 months. We enjoy picking tundra berries, experiencing the swings of extreme daylight and darkness, and living life as slowly as possible as a busy young family.
